A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

He defended 4 early-game break points in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
