A man who spiked sweets with sedative and gave them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has confessed to sexual offences against two young males who were nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the courthouse on Friday.
However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The accused was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She said his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he ran.
Ruben engaged in a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the boys "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.
She said Ruben had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel explained objects including infant oil, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his worries.
She explained the defendant continued to conduct the "candy game" with six children that evening - that Saturday - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she continued.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor explained the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson contacted the police a second time.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five children.
